Our culture tends to find some talent, build these people up and idolize them. We escalate them into success, paste them all over media, become obsessed with them, and basically stalk their every move. The kicker is that when we find out that they are human that have flaws, weaknesses and make mistakes, we are even quicker to defame and destroy them. I think we as a society kind of enjoy seeing fallen success.
I have always wanted to be a country singer (though in high school I wanted to be Vanilla Ice), and I am also pretty passionate about golf. Maybe it is a blessing that I really don’t have that much talent. Given the same opportunities as some of these people, I am not sure I could handle it.
Continue to be passionate about Christ, put Him first and He will see us fulfill our purpose and calling properly while here. All other motives are fruitless and waning.
1 Peter 1:24-25
24 The Scriptures say, “Our lives are like the grass of spring, and any glory we enjoy is like the beauty of a wildflower. The grass dries up and dies, and the flower falls to the ground. 25 But the word of the Lord lasts forever.” And that word is the Good News that was told to you.
